SureScan Corporation Completes Acquisition of Technology

May 23, 2006 - Endicott, NY: The SureScan Corporation has completed the acquisition of the intellectual property related to its SureScan™ x1000 Explosives Detection System from ENSCO Corp. Previously, SureScan had an exclusive license to this technology from ENSCO.

The acquisition will provide SureScan with greater control over current and future technology development and enable it to apply more resources to accelerate ongoing development projects. The acquisition of the intellectual property will further allow SureScan a more direct link between development priorities and market needs.

The SureScan x1000 utilizes an innovative technology developed by the ENSCO Corporation that combines computed tomography with precise estimation of the atomic number of the objects being scanned, while eliminating the need for a rotating gantry traditionally found in computed tomography machines. Through the agreement, SureScan obtains immediate ownership and control over the intellectual property and technology development. “The regulators and airports we are talking to often want unique features to the operational software on the machine for their particular applications, and this demanded that we have the ability to respond very quickly to provide adaptations, while maintaining the strict configuration management required to ensure the quality and reliability of large numbers of units deployed in the field. Acquiring the IP allows us to set priorities and adapt resources to ensure the nimble response to the market that we’ll need.
