SureScan Corporation Awarded $5.2M Contract from TSA for High Speed Stationary Gantry – Fixed Source Scanning System (SG-FSSS) Explosive Detection Equipment

Endicott, New York – December 1, 2008 – The SureScan Corporation has been awarded a $5.2M USD contract from the Transportation Security Administration for the optimization and delivery of SureScan™ x1000 high speed, in-line, explosive detection equipment.

The x1000 was designed and developed by SureScan Corporation to help secure critical infrastructure by effectively screening baggage and cargo for explosives helping to maintain efficient airport flow.

About the x1000

The x1000 performs computed tomography using a fixed number of stationary sources to determine the density and effective atomic number of objects in checked baggage and cargo. This unique design is not subject to the high rotational forces found in rotating gantry designs, enabling the system to detect explosives while requiring fewer moving parts. This results in quieter operation, improved long–term reliability and reduced maintenance costs.
